Casa Studio invites you to participate in a hands-on ceramics experience, exploring the art of clay while embracing sustainability in creative practices. This workshop, led by ceramic artists Jasmine Cardenas and Colin Mummery, provide an opportunity for participants to engage in the full pottery-making process using handbuilding and slab inlay techniques, which incorporates contrasting coloured and recycled clay to create intricate patterns and designs.
This workshop will be held in collaboration with Squiggle the Studio, ensuring a supportive space for learning and experimentation. Join us in celebrating Hamilton Arts Week 2025!

This session invites adults to craft their own ceramic mugs, learning essential clay handbuilding techniques while exploring surface design. Using contrasting coloured and recycled clays, participants will create a functional and personalized piece.
What to Expect:
- Hand-build with clay using a 'clay collage' inlay technique to create layered patterns
- Explore sustainable art-making learning the process of reclaiming and repurposing clay
- Spend an afternoon connecting with your creative side while hanging out with fellow community members
- No experience needed — all levels welcome!
- Completed and glaze-fired pieces will be available for pick-up from Squiggle the Studio after the event
What's Included
- Each registered participant will create one piece
- All necessary materials and tools will be provided
- To ensure a smooth handbuilding process, participants are encouraged to trim their nails and wear old clothing or bring an apron. Working with clay can be messy!

- $25 + HST
- Art for everyone: Thanks to the generous support of the Hamilton Arts Council, we are able to reduce the participation fee for this workshop, making it more accessible to the community
- Reminder emails will be sent to participants and parents/guardians before the start of the workshop.
- Participants will be contacted via email once the mugs are fired and ready for pickup. You must be available to pick up finished pieces from Squiggle the Studio.
